Hull: Charity clothing theft leads cops to suspected cannabis farm

A suspected cannabis factory has been uncovered at a property in De Grey Street, Hull, after a sharp-eyed officer spotted men stealing clothes from a charity collection bin.

Two men in a silver van were spotted taking clothes from the Fire Fighters Charity collection point in Clough Road and driving away at 4.50pm on Thursday, 23 April.

Officers stopped the vehicle in Helsinki Road and two men, aged 45 and 34, were arrested on suspicion of theft and going equipped to steal.

Both remain in police custody. The clothes were recovered and have been returned to the charity.

A further investigation has also been launched after searches of properties linked to the men uncovered approximately 70 plants, which we believe to be cannabis.
