An opportunity has arisen within the Local Assistance Scheme Team. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, hardworking individual who is willing to take on a challenge and is committed to developing their skills and knowledge. This post is currently temporary up to 31st March 2026 for 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
As a Business Support Assistant, you will be responsible for providing a high quality and efficient administrative support service to all teams within the Revenues and Benefits Service. Additionally, you will be tasked with considering and determining applications for Free School Meals using relevant ICT systems in line with defined guidance for which you will receive training.
Duties will include dealing with sensitive and confidential information, maintaining systems, and using a range of software packages.
Main responsibilities include:
- Processing and determining Free School Meal claims accurately and in accordance with the relevant guidance.
- Undertaking finance duties including processing invoices and ordering stock.
- Supporting the Revenues & Benefits service with a range of administrative tasks including referencing incoming work, helping customers access online services and issuing letters in a timely manner.
- To communicate effectively with customers both over the telephone, email and letter.
- Ideally you will have some knowledge or understanding of welfare benefits, excellent ICT skills and the ability to work under pressure. You should be able to work to individual targets and as part of a team to ensure the team meets their service standards. Within this role you will be working with vulnerable service users and their families.
