1st May 2019Hull: Dispersal orders for parts of Orchard Park
Section 35 dispersal orders have been authorised for parts of the Orchard Park estate in Hull, which will give extra powers to officers to move individuals away from areas if they’re causing problems.
The orders are in place until 8pm on 1 May 2019 for areas around Ellerburn shops and the Orchard Centre, Shaw Park, Dodthorpe, Ashthorpe, Hall Road, Cladshaw, and Orchard Park Road.
It means that anyone found by officers to be causing antisocial behaviour in these zones can be told to leave and not return. If they do they can be arrested and will be put before the next available court.
PC Steph Makey, who’s from the Hull North Neighbourhoods team, said: “Section 35 orders are used to remove or reduce the likelihood of members of the public becoming harassed, alarmed or distressed, or the occurrence of crime or disorder in particular areas.
“These additional powers have already been used last night as we issued a dispersal order to an individual causing ASB on a push bike. The bike was also seized. That individual can’t come back into that area of Orchard Park until tomorrow night.
She added: “Me and my colleagues have been out over the past few days on proactive patrol, not only as part of Operation Yellowfin, but as part of our daily duties on the estate.
“Over the past few days we’ve carried out five stop/searches, recovered 8 motorbikes, seized one, and carried out daily searches of open spaces to find evidence of ASB and dumped bikes. These are just a few of the things we’ve been doing.
“We’re giving regular updates on social media about the successes we’re having so far.
“Keep following us on @Humberbeat, @HP_NorthHull and Humberside Police on facebook for even more updates about the work we’re doing.”
