30th April 2019Hull: Great results in north Hull through Operation Yellowfin
The team of officers responsible for tackling motorbike crime across the force have made a number of arrests over the past few days in north Hull in connection with Operation Yellowfin.
Sergeant Derek Hussain recently transferred from the Met Police in London where he led an operation in Westminster which specifically targeted motorbike crime.

He said: “I am really pleased with the results we’ve got through Operation Yellowfin over the past few days.
“We have more patrols on the lookout for motorbikes which may be stolen, ridden dangerously or illegally. We also have officers who are constantly gathering intelligence, carrying out warrants, and speaking with people about their concerns.
“The dedication shown by our officers is really paying off in our ongoing work to tackle motorbike crime, not just in Hull but across the force area.
“At the end of last week we arrested two teenagers who are linked to motorbike enabled crime at their home address in north Hull.
“A 14-year-old, boy who can’t be named for legal reasons, was wanted on warrant. He was charged with five burglaries and appeared at Hull Youth Court on Saturday.
“A 16-year-old boy, who also can’t be named, has been charged with handling stolen goods namely a car. He was bailed and will appear before Hull Youth Court in May.

“On Friday we arrested a 14-year-old boy for riding a stolen motorbike on Ellerburn Avenue. He was seen on CCTV and officers stopped him and arrested him.
“He was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and has been remanded.
“And just this morning we arrested a 15-year-old boy who is currently in custody. He was a wanted person and is one of a group of offenders known to us for motorbike crime.
“He’s been arrested in connection with burglary and riding a motorbike dangerously.
“One of our specially trained officers deployed DNA tagging spray last week in north Hull where a youth was riding a stolen motorcycle.
“This semi-permanent spray is designed so we can track a suspect more easily. We will find the boy.
“If you suspect anyone of being involved in this kind of crime, or maybe know where stolen bikes are being kept or dumped call us on 101. You can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
“If you have a bike, make it hard for people to steal it. Buy a good quality lock and keep it out of view when you’re not riding it. Some shops offer security advice and discount if you quote ‘Yellowfin’. You just have to ask.”
