25th January 2019Hull: Have Your Say On A Small Increase In The Fire Service Council Tax Precept

Members of the public are being invited to have their say on what the Humberside Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS) council tax precept should be for 2019-20.
Residents
in North and North East Lincolnshire, the East Riding of Yorkshire and Kingston
Upon Hull are being asked if they are prepared to pay 20p per month extra on a
Band D property for their Fire and Rescue Service. Residents may pay less
and any increase won’t be more than 40p per month for the highest rated
properties. See the full cost breakdown by band here.
What would the additional funding from the council tax precept increase
translate into?
A Full-Time fire engine and crew costs £1.15m per year, a two fire engine
On-Call fire station costs £360k per year, ten Safety Advocates cost £260k per
year and ten Support roles cost £260k per year. Without the additional
funding, we would need to make reductions to the service that you currently
receive.
