Hull: Man charged with firearms offence

Following an incident in Hull on Sunday, 15 December, a man has been charged with a firearms offence.

Andrejs Saveljevs, 35-years-old, of Boulevard, Hull, has been charged with possession of a firearm or imitation with intent to cause fear of violence (Under Section 16A – Firearms Act 1968).

A report was received at around 1am on Sunday 15 December that a man was on Hessle Road in possession of a firearm.

Officers attended and during the incident, a man was shot by police and taken to hospital to be treated for injuries. He has now been released from hospital.

There continues to be two investigations running parallel in connection to the incident.

A criminal investigation carried out by Humberside Police and an independent investigation carried out by the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) that will look into officer’s actions as part of the incident.
