Hull: Man jailed for over eight years for string of sexual offences

A 25-year-old man was on Friday 16th August, sentenced to eight and a half years in prison after pleading guilty at Sheffield Crown Court to nine offences including voyeurism, outraging public decency and burglary. 

Pawel Relowicz of Raglan Street, Hull, was due to stand trial charged with the offences following his previous plea of not guilty, however on appearance at court on Monday (12 August), the day his trial should have started, he changed his plea to guilty.

All the offences, four counts of voyeurism, two counts of outraging public decency and three counts of burglary, took place in Hull over a period of 18-months, from 2017 to 2019.

In July 2017, Relowicz reached through an open window on Edgecumbe Street and watched a couple having sex through the window before running away when he was seen.

One of the burglaries took place on Chester Avenue in August 2017 where cash and earphones were stolen, with a second burglary in December 2017 on Raglan Street where various sex toys were stolen. 

Relowicz committed the further offences of Voyeurism between December 2017 and December 2018 on Chester Avenue, Walgrave Street and Beresford Avenue. 

He was caught staring through ground floor windows and fleeing the scene when the victims noticed him outside their properties.

The two offences of outraging public decency occurred in January 2019, on Alexandra Road and Wellesey Avenue. On both occasions Relowicz indecently exposed himself and committed a sexual act. 

The final offence of burglary also took place in January 2019 on Ventnor Street, where items stolen included a laptop, kindle, speaker, photographs, women’s underwear and sex toys.

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Gadd said: “Throughout the investigation we reviewed a large number of offences, that individually had no correlation or evident link to have been committed by the same person, and identified the charged offences from our enquiries.

“Making a connection between them all was challenging, as there was no direct pattern of offending with varying time lapses between certain offences.

“However, we were able to comprehensively examine and collate information and put forward evidence to build a strong case against Relowicz and ensure he was brought before the courts.

“I would like to thank all those who have come forward and provided evidence as part of the case, as your cooperation and assistance has helped achieve this result.”
