29th April 2020Humberside Police: Celebrating the young people who took on the Night Challenge

Earlier this year 109 young people put on their hiking boots and trekked just over 12 miles through the countryside of Brantingham Dale as part of the Night Challenge.
Along the way the teams were set challenges to complete, all designed to teach them about the dangers of Child Exploitation, Arson and Road Safety.
Tonight should have been about celebrating all of the wonderful hard work of every young person that took part at an awards evening, but sadly, due to the current circumstances and government guidelines, the event had to be cancelled.
But we still want to celebrate and say thank you to every single young person that took part, as well as the adult volunteers that walked with them and all of the organisations and charities that helped make the night a success.
We also want to officially announce the top three teams and give them a huge (virtual) round of applause.
So without further ado, Community Engagement Coordinator Katie Hardy has dressed up and is ready to announce the winners from the safety of her kitchen. Take it away Katie:
A massive well done to The Bonnie Rascals, The Westcliff Wanderers and The Oswald Warriors, as well as all the other teams that took part – you were all fantastic!
This is the first time we have ever had a joint runners up but the teams were so close it was impossible to pick a 2nd and 3rd place.
We have been speaking to your Walk Supervisors who were all so proud of you that they wanted to share a little video to say well done. You can watch these below.
Finally, a huge thank you too absolutely everyone that got involved in this year’s event! Night Challenge wouldn’t be possible without the huge support that we get from volunteers, businesses and charities and we really do appreciate all you do.
Here’s to next year’s event!
Night Challenge 2020 wouldn’t have been possible without the following organisations: Tribune Trust, Humberside and Lincolnshire Orienteering, Tesco St. Stephens, Makro Hull, Humberside Fire and Rescue, Safer Roads Humber, Young People Support Service, Cornerhouse, Reachout, Defence School of Transport Leconfield, Wilberforce Chambers of Hull, Yorkshire Lowland Rescue, 4X4 Rescue, HM Coastguard, Arco and HMP Humber.
