Kickstart Scheme
Why not give a young person the chance of a 6-month placement this Autumn under the Kickstart Scheme the Government will cover the cost of 25 hours each week at the National Minimum wage for those who are claiming Universal Credit and at risk of becoming long term unemployed. Your company will be helping to get our young people working and will benefit from their skills, energy and enthusiasm.
Transferable skills from other sectors
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic many people have been made redundant or are facing redundancy and perhaps have never considered a career in social care.
There is a selection of case studies showing how people have utilised skills learnt working in another sector and successfully applied them to roles in the adult social care sector.
Royal Air Force apprenticeship offer
The RAF offer more than 20 different apprenticeships and as one of the top 100 apprenticeship providers in the country have earned an Outstanding grading from Ofsted.

What does Life Skills Offer?
- The virtual interview practice tool , offers practice interviews for career or industry change, as well as second/third jobs in same industry. This has model answers to give inspiration, particularly for people who haven’t done an interview for a long time, as well as the ability to record and playback your responses.
- An area on Wellbeing for adults, which includes an article on Improving and looking after your mental health.

| New help on offer from Access to Work The Access to Work scheme has been extended to offer new help for disabled people working from home during the coronavirus pandemic. The extension to the scheme means that: Disabled people can now benefit from financial support to work from home. People who are clinically extremely vulnerable can get new applications for grant funding fast-tracked. Funding can now cover taxi fares and public transport costs if a health condition prevents you from travelling on public transport during the pandemic. Apprenticeships Cash Boost
Announced on 1 September – Employers of all sizes are being invited to apply for generous cash incentives (link) to help them take on new apprentices and get more people into work. As part of the Government’s Plan for Jobs, employers are being offered £2,000 for each new apprentice they hire aged under 25, and £1,500 for each newly recruited apprentice aged 25 and over. This includes taking on an apprentice who has been made redundant.
