KIDS Yorkshire & the Humber have been awarded funding from The Big Lottery Fund to develop a Young Person’s Participation Group – supporting disabled children & young people (aged 14-25 years) to have an influence on decision makers & shape services.
In summary:
• Young people will be supported to develop their own identity, sense of independence and ambition.
• Young people will be supported to understand the importance of their opinions, sharing views and building self-confidence.
• Young people are able to influence local policy and practice development, working collaboratively with others for the benefit of their community.
Claire Crosbie, Senior Regional Fundraiser said: “We are so thrilled to have been awarded this funding and would like to say a huge thank you to The Big Lottery and to all the National Lottery players for making this possible. There is nothing quite like this in the City and we want to ensure that young people with a disability have their voice heard.”
If a young person you know (aged 14-25 yrs) with a special educational need or disability want to be part of this exciting new group then please contact KIDS Yorkshire & the Humber on 01482 467540 or email: enquiries.yorkshire@kids.org.uk
