Two girls from Grimsby have spent their half term holiday on the trip of a lifetime to Paris after they were awarded first place at Humberside Police’s 2018 Lifestyle Awards.
The trip included seeing the sights of the city, taking part on a PGL activity camp and visiting Disneyland Paris.
The girls, who make up team East Marsh Girls, won the trip for their hard work in the summer holidays last year completing a smile project to help people in need in Grimsby.
They worked hard to bring smiles to those around them by making posters in various languages encouraging smiling. They also collected donations for homeless charity, worked with Foresight to help them continue their craft sessions and made a donation of flowers to a member of the community that had been nominated to receive a smile.
But their work didn’t stop there, the girls also tidied up their local area.
Sergeant Nick Bunker from the community safety unit said: “The girls did a brilliant project to support those in need last summer.
“They definitely made a difference to the lives of the people that they came across and brought smiles to faces across Grimsby.
“I hope that this encourages other young people to think about helping their local community by getting involved in Lifestyle 2019.
“They thoroughly deserve this trip and I hope they had a brilliant time.”
Mandy, mother of one of the girls, said: “For months we have been worried about sending them without us, and we can say that they have been treated like princesses. They have had an amazing time and made memories they will treasure forever. It has been a lovely experience for them.”
