Long Riston: Jewellery and sentimental items taken

12 Sep 2018

Can you help find a number of items that were stolen from a house in Long Riston?

An antique brass safe weighing around 100kg and containing valuable jewellery and sentimental items was taken during the burglary on Main Street sometime between the 23 and 30 August 2018.

The items may be sold off in bulk or individually. It’s believed that owing to the weight and size of the safe (2ft x 2ft) more than one person could have been involved in moving it.

Some of the items contained in the safe are as follows:

  • 50g 24k gold ingot
  • Gold and white ceramic cycling medal from the 1950s with inscription ‘B. Windass’
  • Gold ‘Queen Elizabeth II’ coin
  • 18k gold man’s signet ring with black hematite stone with a Greek warrior’s head carved into it
  • Distinctive 18k gold chain which can also be divided into a smaller chain and bracelet
  • Small women’s 9k gold watch with square face
  • Silver French antique pocket watch
  • 4 x 18k gold slim gold chains with pendants (scorpion, chick hatching from an egg, a crucifix, and a Libra sign)

Other items include a 18k fine gold chain, 9k gold bracelet, 9k gold square St Christopher’s pendant, 9k gold opal ring, 9k gold cameo ring, 18k gold brooch in the shape of a spray of leaves, antique mother of pearl brooch, 9k gold Maltese Cross, silver charm bracelet with approx. 10 charms including the Eiffel Tower, various earrings and other rings…

Police are appealing to anyone who may know anything about this incident, may have seen something around the time, or who may be offered this jewellery and has any suspicions to contact authorities.
