New Police Officers Passing Out Parade

New officers fresh out of training head out to make your communities safer and stronger

These fantastic photographs show the true extent of our latest recruitment campaign.

43 new police officers took part in a passing-out parade at the force’s training ground in Courtland Road in Hull today.

These new officers will be patrolling the streets of Hull, North and North East Lincolnshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire.  The Commanders covering both the North and South Bank of the Humber were both keen to welcome their new officers.

Chief Superintendent Darren Downs, South Bank Commander said, “19 new police officers will be joining their colleagues to police Grimsby, Scunthorpe and surrounding areas.  This really makes a huge difference, not only to our communities but also to our existing officers as they bring with them their enthusiasm and fresh ideas.”

Chief Superintendent Phil Ward, North bank Commander said, “An extra 24 officers will make a great difference to the ability of us to improve our policing service in Hull and the East Riding.  I welcome them all to their new roles and know that they will all have an amazing career ahead of them.”

Two of our new officers were asked about their feelings following the parade, PC Justin Robert said, “Joining Humberside Police has been a lifelong dream for me, so to achieve it has been absolutely awesome.  I am looking forward to making a real positive difference to people’s lives.”

PC Rachel Horsaman said, “I joined Humberside Police to make a useful contribution to society, so feel very privileged to be getting the chance to do this.  I am looking forward to meeting members of the community and making a positive difference to their lives.”

These new officers are part of our drive to recruit an additional 350 new police officers.  We open our next phase of recruitment for police officers on 9 May so anyone who wants to join us to make a difference in their community should get ready to apply by looking on our website for further information.

The recruitment of student police officers has been ongoing since 2016.  Thousands of people have applied over the past two years, with more than 1,000 people applying in our latest drive in February 2018.
