Age UK HEY – ‘No Age Limit’: The Hidden Face of Domestic Abuse
Friday 4th October 2024 – 9:30 to 13:00 – Freedom Centre, Hull HU9 3QB
The Age UK HEY ‘No Age Limit’: The Hidden Face of Domestic Abuse conference will bring together key partners, practitioners and organisations involved in tackling domestic abuse to:
- Explore how this manifests itself in older households.
- Raise awareness around this vitally important issue.
- Explore together how to strengthen our local offer across Hull and East Yorkshire.
Age UK HEY want to ensure that no older person has to live in fear of domestic abuse and violence. They know from the work that they do in our communities that older people are experiencing violence, coercion and abuse in their later years, often from a spouse or others in their careering network, and many of these adults are reluctant to come forward and seek help and support.
At the first event of its kind in the region keynote addresses will be delivered by:
- Age UK Hull and East Yorkshire CEO – Andy Haynes
- Age UK National Domestic Abuse Lead – Carrie Bower
- East Riding Domestic Violence and Abuse Partnership (DVAP)
- Hull Domestic Abuse Partnership (DAP)
Following these addresses there will be a structured discussion and feedback time as our focus at Age UK HEY is to work together with all involved in DA work across the region to ensure that local older people get the support and services they need and we see this event as beginning this important work.
Please share details of this event across your networks. For this event they are seeking to engage with all organisations involved in DA support and those who come across throughout Hull and East Yorkshire. The voice of older people with lived experience of DA is very important and they have future plans to ensure their voices are heard and stories are told.
