Op Galaxy have been picking up some goodies in time for Christmas

Message from Humberside Police – With less than a week to go until Christmas Day, Op Galaxy officers have been keeping warm in the cold weather by keeping busy all around the force area.

We’ve been picking up some presents and making arrests in connection with sexual offences, drugs, burglary, theft etc. Here’s what has been happening over the past ten days…

Monday 9 December

  • In Grimsby a man was arrested in connection with a historic sex offence. He was released under investigation.
  • A Misuse of Drugs Act (MDA) warrant was executed at a house on Exton Close in Hull. A small amount of immature cannabis plants was seized along with cultivation equipment. A man was spoken with by officers.

Tuesday 10 December

  • A MDA warrant was executed on Eastgate in Goole. Three people were inside the property but nothing was found. We provided reassurance to the local community.

Wednesday 11 December

  • A 15-year-old boy from Hull was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and burglary in Hull. He was released under investigation.
  • Following a MDA warrant at a property in Hessle, a quantity of class B drugs was seized along with £40 in cash, drugs paraphernalia and two mobile phones.
  • A 32-year-old man was arrested at the address on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and later released under investigation. An earlier arrest attempt had been made for him in north Hull.
  • Two other arrest attempts were made for two known teenagers at an address in Hull. They weren’t found.

Thursday 12 December

  • A section 32 search was carried out at an address on Endike Lane in Hull and a warrant under the Theft Act on Lissett Grove in Hull in connection with possible stolen goods. Nothing was found but a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary.
  • Intelligence regarding possible organised crime activity was gathered.
  • An arrest attempt was also made in Bridlington for a man in connection with robbery. He wasn’t found.

Friday 13 December

  • A warrant was executed on Danes Drive (see photos) in Hessle. £400 in cash, an estimated £1000 in class B drugs and a mobile phone were seized. A man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a class B drug.
  • A vulnerable teenager was also identified at the address and information has been passed on to the appropriate authorities.
  • In Bransholme in Hull another MDA warrant was executed in relation to an intercepted delivery of Benzocaine that we were aware of. We didn’t find anything.
  • A Beverley man was arrested and later charged with drugs offences and money laundering. More can be found here: https://www.humberside.police.uk/news/three-charged-drugs-offences-beverley
  • An arrest attempt was made on Spring Bank West for a man wanted for burglary. He wasn’t located.

Saturday 14 December

  • We arrested a 48-year-old man in Hull on suspicion of rape and sexual assault of a female child under 13. After questioning he was released on bail.
  • Eight properties were visited in North East Lincolnshire to try and find three suspects in connection with burglary and incidents of domestic abuse. Six of those were in Grimsby and two in Immingham.
  • We did not find the suspects but gathered a lot of information which will assist us when we come back looking for them again.

Sunday 15 December

  • On Sunday there was a firearms incident on Hessle Road in Hull during which Op Galaxy officers supported other departments.

Monday 16 December

  • A section 32 search was carried out at a property on Southfield Road in Scunthorpe in connection with alleged drugs offences dating back to last year.
  • A man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs. He’s been released under investigation.
  • Searches were also done of three women under section 23 of the MDA. Nothing was found.

Tuesday 17 December

  • Officers carried out two MDA warrants simultaneously at two properties on Albion Street in Grimsby. Two men in their 40s and 50s were found inside one address. Even though there was suspected evidence of drug use nothing else was found.
  • We also carried out an arrest attempt for a woman in Hull wanted for robbery. There was no reply when we knocked on the door of a house but managed to get some further information from people living nearby.

Wednesday 18 December

  • Working with officers from other departments including our Protecting Vulnerable People unit we made two arrests in connection with sexual offences in Scunthorpe and in Hull.
  • One of the men was arrested in Scunthorpe in connection with paying for the sexual services of a child under 18. A car, mobile phones, paperwork, laptops, a tablet and a large amount of cash were seized. He’s been bailed with conditions.
  • The other man was arrested for the sexual assault of a child under 13 in Hull. He’s been released under investigation.
  • Two Police and Criminal Evidence Act searches were carried out at properties as part of these arrests.
  • Working alongside our divisional intelligence bureau, as well as Hull patrol and our missing person’s team Op Galaxy officers an address was checked for a vehicle reported to have a firearms in it, a vulnerable person was found and medical help was given, and a missing woman was searched for who was later found.

Despite the festive period being upon us, Op Galaxy are continuing to work with all the different departments across the force all over Christmas and New Year.

Don’t think that we’re stopping – we’ll be making sure Christmas is a happy and peaceful time and that those responsible for crime don’t spoil it for others.
