7th March 2025Over 100 young people take part in Humberside Police Night Challenge!

During the weekend, Humberside Police were delighted to see young people from across the region come together and take on the Humberside Police Night Challenge once again.
Over 100 youngsters took part in the Night Challenge, walking nearly 13 miles whilst completing a series of thought-provoking challenges along the way.
Taking place at Raywell Park Activity Centre, the event is specifically designed for young people who may benefit from a positive interaction with the police and partner agencies, as well as those who want to help build stronger links within their communities and educate themselves about the potential consequences of their behaviour and actions.
All young people that take part are encouraged to step out of their comfort zone, learning teamwork, communication, leadership and relationship building skills throughout the course of the walk.
Community Engagement Coordinator Katie Hardy, leading the Night Challenge said: “Each Night Challenge has a different focus and the Community Safety Unit work to create a theme that not only meets the aims for everyone involved, but also gives young people information that will help keep them and others safe.
“In 2025, the theme has been built around the work of Violence Against Women and Girls and is about understanding healthy relationships and signs of coercive control.
“Partners have worked together to create a storyline that shows the dangers of domestic abuse in all forms as well as the potential consequences of drinking alcohol and taking drugs, with challenges designed by our teams and partner agencies to help highlight the dangers.
“The Night Challenge is organised each year by the Community Safety Unit at Humberside Police, who work with local organisations including Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, Yorkshire Ambulance Service, Yorkshire Lowland Rescue, the Defence School of Transport, Safer Roads Humber, Young People Support Service (NELC), the Participation, Innovation & Improvement Team with East Riding Council, Raynet and Yorkshire 4X4 Response.
“The event is made possible due to our sponsors the Tribune Trust and Safer Roads Humber. We’d also like to thank the following for their support: Raywell Scout Camp, Tesco St. Stephens, Houltons, Lisa with The Little Butty Bus and the Local Farmers: Mr Kendall, Mr Moor, Mr May, Mr Sergeant and Mr Charlesworth.”
