11th July 2024Police dogs shine at K9 annual dog trials
On Saturday, 28th June, PC Phillip Lusby and PD Quinta, and PC Dan Silcock and PD Riggs competed in their first ever Fireside K9’s annual police dog trials held by West Yorkshire Police.
They faced ten other police dog handlers from police forces across the UK.
With challenges designed to test obedience, agility, control, bite work, safety and efficiency the teams were certainly put through their paces.
Humberside Police are pleased to share that PC Lusby and PD Quinta finished a brilliant 5th place overall, with PC Silcock and PD Riggs securing 2nd place overall – narrowly missing out on the top spot by just 10 points.
PC Silcock and PD Riggs were also awarded the Criminal Work Champion Trophy after coming first place in the Criminal Work section.
Fireside K9 was originally founded in 2013 by West Yorkshire Police to assist with proving funding for retired police dogs and, as part of competing, PD Quinta & PD Riggs are now honorary members of the charity.
Well done to both pairs, and to all the other teams that took part.
