Police with Pride – Rainbow Cars for Pride Event

Humberside Police unveiled two brightly coloured police cars ahead of the first UK national Pride event in Hull on 22 July. When parked side by side, the cars form a rainbow, a symbol of LGBT Pride.

The unveiling took place in Queen Victoria Square, Hull at 11am Monday 17 July and is part of the City of Culture’s Challenge Hull initiative. This weekly event invites people and community groups to set weekly challenges for Hullensians and visitors to take part in and share on social media with the hashtag #challengehull. The challenge for the week commencing July 17 was set by Pride in Hull to ‘make a rainbow.’

Chief Superintendent Christine Wilson, said,

“Humberside Police is a diverse organisation operating within a diverse community. These rainbow cars allow us to make a contribution to this important event and show solidarity with the region’s LGBT community.

“We’ll also be supporting the Pride event on 22 July, making sure people are safe but also to showcase all that we do, particularly in respect of crime prevention and how to report hate crime. We’ll also be sharing information on how to become a police volunteer, special constable or police cadet.”
