Extended Description
The Wharfedale Foundation, a small charitable trust with roots in the Christian tradition, recognises a common practical vision of a better world with those of other faith traditions and those with none. To that end, the Trust supports initiatives that bring people together to gain understanding of other faiths and cultures and to work in partnership to improve the neighbourhoods in which they live.
The Foundation achieves its objectives through funding projects that are designed to:
- Create greater inclusivity by breaking down barriers of fear based on for example religious, cultural, ethnic or social difference or financial hardship.
- Integrating marginalised groups into mainstream society and promoting a welcoming culture.
- Aiding the integration of marginalised groups through environmental projects.
- Developing greater understanding of these issues through carrying out research.
Application Procedure
There is a two stage application process. Groups should initially send a brief description of their project to the Project Administrator. Projects that fall within the criteria will be asked to send a one-page summary of the project and what they hope to achieve. Those groups that are successful at this stage will be invited to complete a full application.
