Why do a qualification in Professional Policing?

Message from Humberside Police:-

The police service in England and Wales and York St John University want to recognise you for the complex role undertaken by police professionals in the modern age.  You operate at a degree level, so you should be recognised with the appropriate level of qualification.

The qualifications directly relate to the role of a police officer. These are vocational style programmes and will require you to apply yourself and live up the standards expected by the police service. You will learn law, policy and procedure as well as a range of inter-personal, educational skills and importantly, operational skills that support your communities.

The BA(Hons) Professional Policing Practice and the Graduate Diploma in Professional Policing Practice are the College of Policing’s licensed in service  programmes and will enable you to become a qualified Police Constable. We have recruited exceptional people from a wide range of policing backgrounds and forces to develop and support you.

Matt Albrighton: Course Lead for DPP – West Midlands Police – Investigation; Detective Trainer; Mental Health and Neurodiversity; Professional Standards; Police Leadership and Wellbeing

Mark Welton: Lecturer – Metropolitan Police Service – Counter Terrorism; Firearms Command; Covert Operations; Serious Crime Investigation; Diversity

Supporting the team: Guest presentations from specialists in Policing, Criminal Justice, Charities and Organisations Supporting Victims, and lecturers in Social Sciences including Criminology
