9th December 2020Be aware – Food Parcel Fraud
We have just been alerted of a food parcel fraud in North East Lincolnshire.
Details:
The victim who attends a food larder in North East Lincolnshire regularly received a friend request via Facebook. It appeared that they had a mutual Facebook friend. They were asked to click a link to receive the free food parcel and to complete their details. Regrettably the individual did so and has had all monies cleared from their bank account.
The police and Facebook have been informed. Facebook have closed down the account the request was received from, however, it is reasonable to assume that this same fraud can be replicated easily.
Please share this information with your family and friends and advise them to take extra care, be aware of this fraud and not to respond to unsolicited online contact or to ever share personal details.
