Humberside Police Fraud Week will be taking place on Facebook between Monday 28 June and Friday 2 July.

They’re encouraging victims of fraud to share their experiences with others to help us protect more vulnerable people in our area. Whether you’ve received a fraudulent text, phone call or email, or someone’s called at your home, post about it on the new Facebook group during Fraud Week.

Be aware, learn to spot the signs of Fraud and get advice from their team of experts who will be on-hand to offer advice on how to keep yourself safe and what to do if you’ve fallen victim to a fraudulent crime. 

During the last thirteen months £13.7m has been lost by the people of East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire to fraudsters with over 5,300 reported cases.

67% of frauds in the Humberside force area are cyber enabled, meaning they happen when innocent members of the public receive fake emails, texts and calls.

Being a victim of fraud can have devastating and long lasting implications for individuals. Victims often feel a sense of shame and therefore don’t report things or ask for support from family, friends or the police and can be left feeling isolated and alone.

During the COVID-19 pandemic we have seen a national increase in the number frauds, with criminals taking advantage of people spending more time at home, shopping online and looking for love.
