Humberside police have advised that Fraudsters are sending out winter fuel payment scam texts claiming to be from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
Victims have received a winter fuel allowance scam text, with an attached link. When you click on the link you will be asked to fill out a form which includes your personal bank details.
Remember:
· The Government will not ask you for your bank details in this way.
· Never share personal or financial details in response to unsolicited messages.
· Most eligible people don’t need to apply, and the recipients will get the Winter Fuel Payment automatically.
· If you want to check eligibility on Winter Allowance – DO NOT click on the link sent to you in the text message.
· Always check information via the official GOV.UK website.
