27th November 2023Hull City Council – Crime Prevention Fund

This fund aims to support the costs of crime prevention measures and help community groups to undertake projects that reduce crime and antisocial behaviour and improve feelings of safety. Funding will focus on engaging, enabling, and empowering communities to develop community safety solutions.
There are three tiers of funding available:
- Small grants of between £500 and £5,000.
- Medium grants of between £5,001 and £15,000.
- Large grants of between £15,001 and £25,000.
Match Funding Restrictions
Applicants should have a match funding contribution of at least 10% of the value of the project or 30% where the match funding is provided by an Area Committee of the Council such as Ward Budgets Allocation, either as a direct financial contribution to the project’s costs and or as an in-kind contribution, such as staff or volunteer time.
Who Can Apply
The following can apply:
- Not-for-profit organisations such as charities, social enterprises, and community groups.
- Neighbourhood watch groups.
- Residents’ associations.
Groups must:
- Have formal governance documents in place with a management team/board of trustees of at least three people who are not related.
- Have a bank account in the name of the organisations with at least two unrelated signatories.
- Have appropriate insurance in place, such as public liability insurance.
- A safeguarding policy (if working with children).
Eligible Expenditure
Funding is available for a wide variety of capital projects and activities that contribute to reducing crime/anti-social behaviour and/or improving community safety, including but not limited to:
- Events and activities that support crime reduction and enhance community safety.
- Activities and support for groups of people who may be particularly at risk of becoming victims of crime or have previously been victims of crime.
- Activities and support for groups of people who may be particularly at risk of being drawn into crime or antisocial behaviour.
- Minor capital works to purchase or improve community assets and equipment where it can be shown that these will divert people from crime or antisocial behaviour taking place in the local area, such as:
- Playgrounds.
- Sports facilities.
- Community buildings.
- Measures to improve the security of community buildings or assets.
- Measures to improve the safety of outdoor public spaces.
Projects that deliver the greatest impact and the best value for money will be given priority.
Projects must be completed within 12 months.
How To Apply
The next deadlines are:
- 8 December 2023 for consideration at the 22 January 2024 committee meeting.
- 5 January 2024 for consideration at the 26 February 2024 committee meeting.
- 2 February 2024 for consideration at 25 March 2024 committee meeting.
- 8 March 2024 for consideration at the 22 April 2024 committee meeting.
- 5 April 2024 for consideration at the 20 May 2024 committee meeting.
