A man who killed his friend in cold blood on the morning of Tuesday 9 March 2021 has today (Friday 26 November) been found guilty of murder at Hull Crown Court.
The victim, Jason Joseph Clark, was just 40 years old when his life was cut short by the actions of Patrick Sean Clayton Jnr (26). Jason was found in the hallway of a block of flats on Beech Close, Hull, just after 7.30am, having suffered a total of 15 stab wounds, which ultimately proved fatal.
Clayton and the victim were said to have had a disagreement prior to the murder.
Although Clayton pleaded not guilty of murder, overwhelming DNA, CCTV, and witness evidence presented during the three-week trial saw a jury unanimously convict him of murder.
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Grant Taylor, said: “This individual took away the life of another man with no consideration for the impact that would have on Jason Clark’s loved ones.
“This was a callous, brutal crime which Mr Clark stood no chance of defending himself against or surviving.
“My thoughts remain with Mr Clark’s family and friends who have been incredibly strong throughout the investigation and trial.
“Whenever we receive a report that someone has been seriously injured or died at the hands of another, it understandably shocks and saddens the community. I hope that now this individual is facing a significant prison sentence, it goes some way to providing closure for Jason’s family and also reassures the community that Clayton cannot cause any further harm.”
Patrick Sean Clayton Jnr will be sentenced at Hull Crown Court on the afternoon of Tuesday 21 December.
