Ensure Your Chimney Is Swept In Time For Christmas

After a recent spate of chimney fires across the Humber region, we are reminding residents to ensure that chimneys are swept regularly, kept clean and that the appropriate fuel is used.

Chimney sweeping is important. The function of sweeping the flue/chimney is to remove the deposits that build up when burning carbon based fuels. Other debris such as old bird nests or loose brick work can affect the function of your chimney.

Sweeping the flue/chimney ensures that there is a clear passage for the safe exit of combustion products. This lessens the chances of the chimney catching fire or the potentially deadly build-up of carbon monoxide.
