No More Hidden Victims – Spotting the signs of Modern Day Slavery.

Humberside Police are running a campaign on spotting the signs of Modern Slavery.

Whether or not it’s Labour abuse, child criminal exploitation, or domestic servitude, here’s some things you should look out for:

Domestic Servitude:

• Living or working in the home of the employer.
• Living or working in confined or unsuitable places.
• Isolated from friends or family.
• Signs of trauma or emotional distress.
• Always accompanied when outside the house.

Child Criminal Exploitation:

• Skipping school.
• Unexplained injuries.
• Unexplained gifts.
• Friendships with older individuals.
• Involved in criminal activities.

Labour Abuse:

• Controlled access to their wages.
• Threatened with violence or deportation.
• Dependant on their employer.
• Forced to work long hours.
• Living in poor or overcrowded accommodation.
