This week it has been reported by Third Sector and Charity News that the reporting of serious incidents from charities has risen by 50%!
This is a huge increase at a time when charities are being reminded of the need to keep themselves and volunteers safe. Keeping safe has been the topic of a number of conversations during the Coronavirus pandemic and recently whistle blowing has increased amid improvements to the Charity Commission process suggesting people are genuinely concerned about safety amongst our charitable organisations.
If you want to learn more on how to keep you and your volunteers safe, you can look at various sites such as the NCVO or to get more information on risk assessments and health and safety you can visit the Health and Safety Executive site (HSE).
The next Volunteer Managers and Co-ordinators Network is due to take place on Wednesday, 29 July at 10am via zoom. If you manage or co-ordinate volunteers and would like to join the network, please contact Beverley Woyen via email: bwoyen@hull-cvs.co.uk
