Hull: Two boys arrested following Princess Elizabeth Playing Fields assault
22nd July 2020Hull: Two arrested following armed robbery and cannabis farm found at property
A man and a woman from Hull have been arrested this morning (Tuesday 21 July) on suspicion of armed robbery and of the cultivation of cannabis.
Humberside Police were called at 6.20am today to reports that two people were robbing and assaulting a shop keeper with a metal bar at a shop on Anlaby Road. The caller had followed the suspects and were able to help officers locate and arrest them at a property further along Anlaby Road on suspicion of the robbery.
When officers located the two suspects they also found what are thought to be around 500 cannabis plants and growing equipment in the premises. The two suspects were further arrested for the cultivation of cannabis.
Hull’s neighbourhood Inspector Julian Hart said, “I want to sincerely thank the member of the public that assisted us this morning. Their action was extremely helpful and enabled us to detain two suspects and take a significant amount of drugs off the streets of Hull.
“I can report that the shop keeper, although extremely shaken by the incident this morning, has sustained minor injuries and will make a full recovery and is being supported by our officers while we conduct our enquiries.
“The pair are being questioned in connection with both the robbery and with the cultivation of cannabis.
“Anyone with information that would help with our investigations should call us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 73 of 21 July 2020.
“We continue to work hard to tackle the issues of drugs in our city and would appeal again for anyone with information about drugs being grown near them to call us on 101 to report their suspicions. We will look at the information provided and take all necessary actions against those involved in the growing and distribution of drugs in our communities.”
