Four people (between the ages of 15 and 20 years-old) have now been arrested in connection with violent disorder on Whitefriargate in Hull at 6pm on Monday 21 February.
Two were arrested on Monday at the time of the incident and a further two were arrested on Tuesday afternoon.
It was reported that a group of around 10 to 12 youths were involved in violent disorder in which shopkeepers were assaulted, criminal damage caused and items stolen.
Speaking about the incident Chief Superintendent Christine Wilson said, “We will not tolerate behaviour of this kind in our city, it is totally unacceptable.
“This type of anti-social behaviour has huge consequences on the community and we will do what we can to protect and reassure our residents and businesses that we will be there for them.
“We have increased patrols in the city and will be working closely with the local businesses today to provide that reassurance to them.
“I would ask for parents to take responsibility for their children and to make sure you know where your children are and who they are with.
“All of those arrested have been bailed pending further enquiries into the incident. We continue to trawl the CCTV captured from the incident and will look to identify more of those involved and bring them to justice.
“If anyone has information that would help with our investigation please call us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 416 of 21 February 2022.”
