Hull: Jail for ‘reckless’ driver after city centre pursuit

A man has been sentenced to 18 months in jail after being found guilty of two offences.  

Adam Edgar, 39, of Limerick Close, Hull, attended Hull Crown Court on Tuesday 6 December, where he was convicted of aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving.

A car was stolen from Holderness Road in the evening of Sunday 6 November before being spotted on the A63. The driver failed to stop for officers in the specialist Roads Crime Team and drove the car dangerously through Hull city centre, before being in collision with a wall on Wilberforce Drive.

Edgar was arrested on the scene and later charged with four offences.

Chief Inspector Will Jenkins said: “The recklessness of the driver of the stolen motor vehicle could have put lives in danger as he showed no care or consideration for anyone else.

“I am pleased with today’s result in court. The Roads Crime Team and Roads Policing Unit see on a daily basis the effects dangerous driving can have.”
