27th April 2026Fostering in Hull

As an organisation Fostering Hull works with people across Hull every day, they know how strong and supportive this city can be.
That’s why we’re sharing this message.
Right now in Hull, there are children who need a safe place to stay.
Not somewhere miles away.
Not in an unfamiliar place.
But here, in the city they know.
At the moment, there aren’t enough foster carers locally. This means some children are being cared for outside of Hull, away from their school, their friends, and everything that feels familiar to them.
For a child who has already experienced change and uncertainty, being moved further away can make things even harder.
We know how important it is for children to stay connected to what they already know.
Their school.
Their friendships.
Their routines.
These things matter. And children do better when they can keep those links.
Fostering isn’t about being perfect, it’s about being there. It’s the everyday things, school runs, tea times, listening, patience, and giving a child the chance to feel safe again.
During Foster Care Fortnight, Hull City Council is asking something very simple: Tell one person. Someone you work with, someone in your family, someone you know who cares.
Because telling one person could be the difference between a child staying here in Hull, surrounded by everything they already treasure, or having to move away from it.
We’re proud to support this message, and we hope you will help share it too.
You may not be in a position to foster, but you might know someone who is.
And that one conversation could make all the difference.
