Forcewide: 41 new cadets attested

Message from Humberside Police:-

On Wednesday, 28 November, cadets from around the Humberside Police area came together to attend the annual Volunteer Police Cadet Attestation.

41 new recruits took to the stage at Hull University to take their oaths and to formally enter the Humberside Police family.

The cadets were joined by their family and friends to help celebrate their achievements so far and recognise the hard work they have put in to successfully complete their initial training. 

Assistant Chief Constable Scott Young attended the ceremony and was joined by the High Sherriff of the East Riding of Yorkshire Debbie Rosenberg who thanked the cadets for giving back to their communities and their families and friends for supporting the cadet scheme.

Sergeant Katie Hoskins of the community safety unit stated “Cadets have now been with us for nearly 2 years and in that time they have done some fantastic things. With the support of our wonderful unit leaders they have worked hard to gain new skills and abilities that not only help them with being a police cadet but also help them serve their communities. Here in the community safety unit we are very proud of what our cadets do to make a difference and how they come together to help others around them.”

There was also an opportunity to celebrate the contribution of some of our existing cadets during the event, with awards to recognise their achievements. Assistant Chief Constable Scott Young presented Cadet Leo Lobont with an award for displaying outstanding qualities when he safeguarded members of his local community during an incident, drawing on his training as a cadet to so.

Each unit also nominated a cadet for cadet of the year and this year’s winner was Cadet Henna Hussain of the Scunthorpe Unit.

Community Engagement Coordinators Katie Hardy and Sue Macrae stated “The cadets work very hard to make a difference and it is wonderful how the scheme is supported by the local communities and businesses. We would like to thank all those that support us to make the cadets happen. We would like to thank Core Drivers Ltd of Grimsby and the Blakemore Foundation for their recent support of the Cadet Scheme and look forward to working with others in the future.”
