Hull: Get into Work with “Take Control” a Youth Employment Initiative
11th December 2020New East Hull Neighbourhood Watch Community Radio Station

The Covid 19 pandemic has affected people in many different ways, but for one Hull resident more time at home has meant time to dust off his old radio station software and start up a new community radio station.
Chris from Grasby Estate NHW has decided to give his new radio station a very community feel and has said the following about the venture:
‘Rather than just being one station amongst hundreds of thousands just playing music and not having many listeners, I decided to use it with the Grasby Estate Neighbourhood watch to create a sort of online community radio station for this local community, but also for the wider East Hull Community.’
‘As the Grasby Estate Neighbourhood watch admin, I receive messages and bulleting through Neighbourhood Network originating from places like Action Fraud, which I’ve started to broadcast with one ‘bulletin’ being played every 10 songs.’
‘The Radio Station itself, plays mainly 80s 90s and 00s music, with Love songs from 6pm on an evening, and country songs 9am-noon on a weekend. Currently, I am also playing Christmas music 3pm-6pm each day.’
We think it’s a very unique thing to do and haven’t heard of any other radio station with such a community safety and NHW focus. We think it’s worth shouting about and are really proud of Chris and his efforts for Grasby estate and wider communities of East Hull.
The station is available on various platforms, and can be found on Radioline, Streema, Shoutcast, My Tuner, and can be played on mobile devices via the corresponding APPs and even on Amazon Alexa.
