Bogus illegal activity phone calls

We have been made aware of the following scam call claiming to be from your internet provider.

The automated caller will claim something like this: “We will be discontinuing your internet connection within 24 to 48 hours due to illegal activity. Please speak to our experts. Press 1 to get connected now.”

If you do press 1 you will be connected to a premium rate call line, Ofcom says – which will siphon off your money to the scammers.

They may also inform recipients that there is an outstanding bill or payment related to their phone or broadband account and their service will be disconnected unless payment is made. The scammers will ask for your bank details to take payment to resolve the issue.

Please remember to never give out your personal details to cold callers.
