Beverley: Four arrested in drugs raids

Message from Humberside Police:- 

Four men have been arrested as a result of raids our teams have carried out in Beverley this morning.

Misuse of drugs warrants were executed at six properties in the town – two in Schofield Avenue, two in Coltman Avenue, one in Wharton Avenue and one at a unit on Beverley Business Park.

A 32-year-old is suspected of money laundering and supplying controlled drugs, a 23-year-old is suspected of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, a 20-year-old is suspected of possession to supply drugs other than Class A and an 18-year-old is suspected of deserting from the Army.

All four remain in our custody, pending further enquiries.

Inspector Phil Hinch from the Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “As a result of these warrants we have arrested four men and recovered a quantity of what we believe to be Class A drugs and cannabis, stolen property and drug paraphernalia.

“We are now investigating the wider circumstances and whether these addresses are linked to Organised Crime Groups and County Lines gangs, who often exploit vulnerable young people by using them to distribute drugs.

“The supply and misuse of drugs by organised gangs – and the resulting criminal and antisocial behaviour – is a serious issue in towns and cities across the UK and our area is no exception.

“We know the harm it causes – often to the most vulnerable in our communities – and that’s why tackling this issue and prosecuting those involved is such a high priority for us.

“We have a really good understanding of Organised Crime Groups, which are often at the head of the supply chain, and we work closely with neighbouring forces and the National Crime Agency to share vital information and intelligence.

“However, a lot of the information we need to carry out these kind of operations comes from the public.

“You know when something is not right in your area and you’re really good at letting us know when that’s happening.

“It’s by putting together the information you share with us with what our officers see and hear out on the streets, that we’re able to successfully target those who bring drugs into our communities and bring them to justice.”
