8th May 2020Building on Community Spirit – ‘Thinker’s corner’
Thinkers’ Corner is between Great Union Street and Citadel Way and is an area of the city a group of local residents are striving to make a space for all to enjoy and appreaciate the beauty on their door step.
The group has written the below in the hope they can attract more local residents to be involved and create greater sense of community.
‘We have been truly amazed at how the community has come together in such unprecedented circumstances these past few weeks, proving how people working together can achieve great things. We would like to continue this newfound community spirit by proposing a clear up of Thinkers’ Corner (an area of land between Great Union Street and Citadel Way). This involves litter picking, gardening and cleaning the statues and headstones in the area. We would like to encourage people form all walks of life to be part of this scheme, helping to bring the community even closer together.
Provided Government recommendations allow it, we hope that the clean up will largely take place later on in the summer (when social distancing is hopefully more lenient). Until then we are just trying to raise awareness of this scheme, and encourage as many people to get involved as possible!
Let’s continue to work together and create a beautiful outdoor space for all to enjoy, right here in Hull!’
If you would like to be involved or would like more information, please contact the Neighbourhood Network and we’ll pass on your contact details.
