Message from Humberside Police Force:
On the evening of Wednesday 15 November, 37 new cadets took to the stage to take an official oath to be awarded with the title of Police Cadet by Deputy Chief Constable David Marshall, formally entering them into Humberside Police.
The cadets were joined by their family and friends to celebrate their achievements and to recognise the hard work they put in to successfully completing their initial training.
After taking the oath, the cadets will now have a variety of different duties. They will continue to be committed to attending a two-hour lesson each week, as well as volunteering for at least three hours per month with the community teams.
Sergeant Nick Bunker, of the Community Safety Unit, said: “The Cadets truly are a part of Humberside Police and over the years they have done some fantastic things.
“With the support of our dedicated unit leaders, our cadets have worked hard to gain new skills and abilities that not only help them with being a police cadet, but also help them to serve their local communities.
“They truly are a credit to themselves and the Force and with more and more ex-cadets joining Humberside Police as Officers, Staff members, Special Constables and Community Safety Volunteers it is hopefully their first step towards an exciting career with Humberside Police.
Community Engagement Coordinator Katie Hardy, who is the force lead for the cadets, said: “I’m delighted to welcome the new cadets and we look forward to seeing their continued development and involvement with local policing.
“Over the years the cadets have worked very hard to make a difference and it’s wonderful that the scheme is supported by so many.
“We are really looking forward to see our new recruits progress through the scheme and to learn from one another.”
This year also saw the introduction of a special Award for Cadet who have shown Community the Liz Smith awards which was present by her son PC Graham Smith in memory of PCSO Liz Smith.
