Digi-Dogs Duke and Dexter have completed their training! Humberside Police news

Starting the new year off on the right paw, the latest recruits to the Humberside Police & their canine search capability, Duke and Dexter, have completed their six-week training programme and are now licensed digital detection dogs!

PD Duke and PD Dexter, two highly skilled German Shorthaired Pointers, are the first of their kind in the region. They bring a cutting-edge capability to the force, trained specifically to detect concealed digital devices, such as USB drives, mobile phones, SIM cards, and other electronical devices than can serve as critical evidence in criminal investigations.

PC Dog Handler Steve Matthews said: “Duke and Dexter are soon to be deployed and will be an invaluable asset to the force.

“Their ability to detect hidden digital devices will prove vital in a wide range of investigations. From assisting frontline officers to supporting specialist teams, their unique skill set enhances our ability to bring offenders to justice and safeguard vulnerable individuals in our communities.

“This innovative approach to modern policing demonstrates our commitment to staying ahead of the curve and utilising every tool at our disposal to combat crime in an increasingly digital world.”
