Active Citizens is a social leadership training programme that promotes intercultural dialogue and community-led social development.
The programme brings together people with different beliefs and perspectives to learn from and share with each other.
Active Citizens connects thousands of like-minded people around the world who collectively want to make a fairer and more inclusive society.
If you want to makes changes in your community, get involved with the Active Citizens programme, as Hull has been awarded funding for the Active Citizens UK Programme Cycle 2018-19!
The British Council is the United Kingdom’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities -its main role is to create “friendly knowledge and understanding between the people of the UK and other countries” by making a positive contribution to the UK and the countries they work with – by creating opportunities, building connections and engendering trust.
Hull City Council Area Coordinator’s Mike and Sharron will be undertaking some Active Citizen training in October, and then will be enlisting a group of 30 people from a variety of backgrounds. These people need to be committed to social change and be available to take part on the four day FREE Active Citizen Training in November 19-22 (venue yet to be decided) on how to become an active citizen. Both Mike and Sharron will support the citizens with their social projects, it could be something they are already on with or something new they just need a little help getting started.
The Active Citizens programme has been designed to develop an understanding of working with culturally diverse communities in our cities and to support communities to take a lead in shaping their future, leading to greater community cohesion.
