Hull: Living With Dementia Family Fun Day

As you are aware The Hull Dementia Action Alliance and the Dementia Collaborative have for the past 3 years organised an event in a local shopping centre with stalls and demonstrations of the amazing opportunities there are in Hull for families who are living with dementia to be supported with both their physical and mental health.

This year they are hoping to step it up a little and will be making it a family fun day in order to capture those hard to reach families who are facing dementia.

They have secured the use of St Stephen’s Shopping Centre (in recognition of the steps they have taken to ensure all of their staff are given the Dementia Academy Training) who have given them the whole of the centre and the area and garden at the rear to hold an event that will engage the whole family.

They hope to have

  • Up to 30 stalls
  • A demonstration/stage area where organisations can showcase the work they are doing to improve well-being
  • A children’s area to include activities, bouncy castle, scrap store etc etc.
  • Attendance by a selection of princesses, transformers and super heroes
  • A couple of “clinic” areas where people will have an opportunity to speak more privately with service providers.
  • A competition for local scouts, Brownies and Guides to design a new logo for the alliance.

There is a very tight time scale to get this off the ground because of work commitments and holidays,  so if you would like a stall,  please contact June at Butterflies on Tel 07821 519212 or  by FRIDAY 8th June.
