Hull: Man in custody following incident at hospital

A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon after officers were called to attend at Hull Royal Infirmary today (Tuesday 4 October) following reports of an incident at 7:20am.

​It is reported that an altercation took place both inside and outside the hospital, and a man is believed to have threatened staff with a knife.

Armed response officers arrived, and members of the public had intervened and are thought to have detained the man.

​Thankfully, nobody was physically injured because of the incident but those involved have understandably been left shaken.

Humberside Police would like to praise and thank the members of the public who were present and assisted in detaining the man which undoubtedly prevented anyone being hurt.

​Officers investigating the incident are appealing for witnesses or for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the area to contact 101, quoting log 57 of 4 October.
