Hull: Three years in jail for supermarket robber

Philip Gonsalves (44) of Staveley Road appeared at Hull Crown Court last week in relation to a robbery which occurred at a food store on Marfleet Lane, Hull on the 10 March this year.

He was charged with the offence of theft when he stole a quantity of meat before threatening staff with a knife.

He was sentenced to three years in jail for the offence.

Detective Sergeant Andy Bradley said: “I am pleased with the sentence given out to Mr Gonsalves and I hope that this sentence reassures the staff who were terrified by his actions.

“I hope this sentence will give him time to reflect on his behaviour whilst protecting the public from harm as he is taken off our streets.”
