Hull: Volunteer’s needed for Constable Community Allotment

As we go into the new growing season, Constable Community Allotment is seeking additional volunteers who can spend a little time each week helping to maintain this active community garden and food growing site. There’s lots of varied work to be done, from basic planting, weeding and watering to maintaining hedges, creating a pond and helping to build the walls of the roundhouse. Help is also sought for the activity days which are being planned – the first of which will be The Big Lunch on Sat 1 June 2019.

The regular volunteering sessions are held on Fridays and Saturdays. If you turn up at mid-day you will find project manager Lausanne Tranter or assistant project manager John Pickles already working and happy to offer you a task. Tools are provided and guidance will be available.

Besides enjoying fresh air and exercise and a share in the harvest, you will be able to learn about permaculture. The site uses permaculture principles and the management team are qualified permaculturists. Whether you are new to permaculture or already familiar, there will be opportunities to learn and deepen your knowledge.
