- Work Base: The Open Doors Project (Hull), Princes Avenue Methodist Church, Hull
- Responsible for: Open Doors Drop-In Volunteer
- Hours of Work : 22hours per week worked flexibly including evenings and weekends but mostly Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday between 8.30am to 4.30pm.
- Salary : £15.50 per hour (actual annual = £17732)
- Term : Fixed term contract for 12months (may be extended subject to funding)
Responsible for the direct delivery of all the services and activities of Open Doors, ensuring a welcoming presence for all clients and volunteers.
Drop-in session and activity coordination to include:
- Ensure the weekly drop-in sessions run smoothly, coordinating activities throughout specific days (e.g. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays).
- Coordinate activities such as women’s groups, games sessions, food distribution, front desk operations, cooking, translating, interpreting, setting up and tidying away.
- Create a safe, warm and welcoming place for clients to socialise.
- Oversee the lunch and kitchen team, serving meals to clients
- Oversee the distribution of used clothing and household items
- Coordinate buying/receiving food and distributing food parcels.
- Organise and coordinate basic informal spoken English classes.
- Organise events and trips
- Purchase resources related to direct services and activities.
- Volunteer recruitment, management and support:
- With the Project Manager oversee the recruitment and induction of volunteers.
- Ensure all the relevant paperwork is completed and properly filed.
- Oversee training of volunteers and allocate them to identifiable roles.
- Client Support and Integration:
- Provide one-to-one support to asylum seekers and refugees as they settle into their new lives
- Manage client registration and follow-up.
- Signpost to services such as health, education, language classes and free events/activities available in Hull.
- Signpost clients to CIAC/Migrant Help/Home Office Support as appropriate
- Support clients with specific needs like financial support for travel.
