8th March 2024Two county line drugs dealers jailed for six-years
Two men who were involved in county lines drug dealing in and around the Hull area have been sentenced to a combined total of six-years behind bars after one was found guilty of drug offences and the other pleaded to the offences on Tuesday 16 January 2024 at Hull Crown Court.
Admar McKenzie, 23, of Richmond Croft, Birmingham was charged with being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin. McKenzie pleaded guilty to the charges against him and was sentenced to three-years in prison.
Oshane Morrison, 30, of Chamberlain Walk, West Midlands was charged with being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine, heroin and possession of criminal property and entered a not guilty plea.
Following a four-day trial at Hull Crown Court, the jury returned a guilty verdict for Morrison and was sentenced to three-years in prison.
Investigations began in March 2021 when officers attended an address on Esk Crescent in Hull following reports of a disturbance inside the property. Three men are reported to have fled the scene before officers located Morrison hiding in a garden on Brooklyn Avenue.
Following the search of the area, officers recovered a quantity of class A drugs and Morrison was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possessions of a knife.
Mobile phones were also seized as part lines of enquiries, and it was established that Morrison and McKenzie were operating a drugs line, with drugs being imported from West Midlands and then being transported to the Humberside force area.
McKenzie was identified through these enquiries and was arrested and later charged in connection with the offences before pleading guilty at an earlier hearing, admitting his involvement in the county lines drugs network.
Detective Inspector Matt Grantham said: “Drugs bring untold misery and crime to our communities and by putting McKenzie and Morrison behind bars, we have been able to bring their drug dealing to an end.
“I am reassured that both men are now off our streets and are now facing a significant amount of time in prison for their crimes.
“I hope the sentence given today sends a clear message to anyone else involved in the supply of drugs that we will not tolerate this type of criminality and we will come for you.”
