Chief Constable Lee Freeman of Humberside Police said; “Despite challenging times at a national level, Humberside Police continue to report the highest levels of morale amongst frontline officers across all forces in England and Wales.
“It is reassuring to see these results again, as despite the many challenges facing police officers across the country, Humberside officers again report that they feel more valued, supported and aligned to what we are trying to do for our communities than any force in the country”
“It is important to note that morale is absolutely not about officers feeling or being happy.”
“Morale in any organisation is fundamental in order to be successful, and in policing, motivated, supported and valued officers and staff go the extra mile for the public that we work for every day.
“These results are an endorsement of how Humberside Police continues to improve. They reflect the day to day support and leadership that officers see from their supervision and managers, it reflects how staff buy into how the force is run and I believe it reflects that officers have seen action and not just words in how the force supports them to do the job that they signed up for”
“Undoubtedly, Humberside Police has transformed over the last 5 years, both in terms of what it feels like to work here, but more crucially, in the quality of the policing that we are providing to the public”
“The 2021 survey results again illustrate that that our officers believe that the changes we have made, and how we are supporting them, continues to have a positive impact and this is good news for our communities.”
“I’d like to thank all my officers and staff, along with the continued support I have had from the Humberside Police Federation branch, in helping me embed the culture change throughout the entire force in the last 5 years”
Next month, Humberside Police are again in the final 3 for the prestigious Police Force of the Year 2022 award. After winning the Silver award in 2021, we look forward to sharing the results on March 10th as the winners are announced at the Public Sector Transformation Awards in London.
