1st January 2021Neighbourhood Network Annual Awards

Every year since its inception the Neighbourhood Network charity has hosted a yearly event to celebrate the achievements of its member groups. The event recognises the important part that Neighbourhood Network groups play in making their local communities safer.
Over the years the categories have changed, with the emphasis in the early tears being on ward representation. However recently the categories have included:
Voluntary Group of the Year – Celebrating the coming together of individuals to collectively make a difference and bring positive changes to a community.
Health & Wellbeing Award – Encouraging participation in achieving healthier minds and bodies.
Project of the Year – Projects that are making a real impact within their community
Volunteer Champion of the Year – An individual’s significant contribution to a community or project.
In 2018 the NN team and trustees introduced two new categories:
Neighbourhood Network Contribution Award – presented to those groups or individuals that have embraced the ethos of Neighbourhood Watch and are striving to make a positive difference to their neighbourhoods.
Above and Beyond Award – presented to those groups or individuals that have embraced the ethos of Neighbourhood Watch and are striving to make a positive difference to their neighbourhoods.
Every year members can self-nominate or community safety partners can nominate groups that they have come across in their work. The shortlisted entries are then prepared for a judge’s panel, normally consisting of at least one Neighbourhood Network trustee and other stakeholders of the charity.
2020 has been a very different year as the charity was unable to host the normal event for its members. This year groups were asked to nominate themselves as to why their wished should be granted. Applications were shortlisted and after a panel meeting, seven applications were granted their ‘Rewards’.
Lucky recipients for 2020 were rewarded with items that would aid their group’s aims and development. Such items included printing equipment, art and craft resources, cooking utensils and litter picking equipment.
