Neighbourhood Network Awards

To recognise and celebrate the vital role that community-led groups play in making local neighbourhoods safer, healthier, and more connected places to live, work, and play, the Neighbourhood Network previously hosted an annual Community Awards Event. This special occasion was created to shine a spotlight on the individuals and groups who go above and beyond to improve life in their communities—and to give them the recognition they truly deserve.

The event highlighted the amazing work taking place across Hull, from helping neighbours with everyday tasks like shopping, to organising community events, or leading initiatives that transform entire neighbourhoods. No act is too small—every contribution matters.

Award categories in recent years have included:

• Bringing People Together Award – For connecting people, tackling loneliness, and supporting the most vulnerable.
• Health & Wellbeing Award – Celebrating initiatives that support healthier minds and bodies.
• Making a Difference Award – For those making a tangible, positive impact on their communities.
• Environmental Change Award – Recognising efforts to protect the natural environment and promote conservation.
• Neighbourhood Watch Contribution Award – For individuals or groups embracing the ethos of Neighbourhood Watch and working to improve neighbourhood safety.
• Above and Beyond Award – Presented by the Neighbourhood Network team to those who consistently go the extra mile in service to their communities.

Award recipients come from all walks of life, united by a shared goal: making Hull a better place to live. The awards not only celebrate these incredible efforts, but also offer a platform for community groups to showcase their work and inspire others.

Although the event had become a much-loved annual tradition, the Neighbourhood Network has paused the Awards in recent years due to limited resources and funding.
