10th January 2024Cervical Cancer awareness month – bitesize sessions available this January
To mark Cervical Cancer Awareness Month (January 2024) and Cervical Cancer Prevention Week (22nd to 28th January 2024) the Humber and North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance are offering free bitesize awareness sessions.
Cervical cancer is the most preventable cancer and cervical screening can help identify changes in your cervix and the cells, before cervical cancer starts, yet over 120,000 people in the Humber and North Yorkshire area are not up-to-date with their cervical screening.
The Cancer Champions want everyone to have the support and facts they need to feel comfortable to access cervical screening. The bitesize session will include.
- the signs and symptoms of cervical cancer
- Human Papillomavirus (HPV) and the HPV vaccination programme
- what happens at a cervical screening test?
- hints, tips, and experiences that will help women and people with a cervix feel more able to book a test.
These bitesize sessions are open to anyone living or working in the Humber and North Yorkshire area, are being held virtually and will be about 30 minutes in length. The following dates are available:
- Monday 15th January at 15:30
- Wednesday 17th January at 13:00
- Monday 22nd January at 14:30
- Tuesday 23rd January at 10:00
- Wednesday 24th January at 19:00
- Thursday 25th January at 12:30
- Friday 26th January at 11:00
- Tuesday 30th January at 13:00
- Thursday 1st February at 11:30
To reserve your place, please visit the Eventbrite booking page.
Following the success of previous bitesize sessions they have held, once these dates are filled, they will add further sessions. Please let them know if you cannot attend these and would like to be made aware when further dates are added at hny.cancerchampions@nhs.net.
